The Windows Support Scam Rides Again!

Fraudsters are continuing to cold call people, claiming to be a Windows support tech and getting the users to give them remote access to their PCs in the guise of helping them update their systems – as long as the user hands over £185.This scam has actually been around for quite some time and whilst police may struggle to stop criminals from setting up business under a new name once they have been shut down, the potential victims can take control of the situation by putting the phone down.

India and Russia overtake the US as the world’s biggest virus-producing country, says Network Box

30 August 2010 - India has overtaken the US as the single biggest producer of viruses, according to analysis of internet threats by managed security company, Network Box. India is now responsible for 13.74 per cent of the world’s viruses, up from 9.5 per cent in July. Russia is the next in line, producing just over 11 per cent of viruses - a jump from last month’s 4.01 per cent. The US accounts for just over eight per cent, a significant decrease from 14.65 per cent last month.
