Every week Hillarys Blinds processes more than 6,000 orders and makes nearly 30,000 blinds. Hillarys Blinds employs more than 1,000 full-time staff across its three sites in Nottingham and Washington Tyne and Wear; and also retains a UK network of 1,000 self-employed sales advisors.
Protecting business-critical communications
Like many organisations, the internet and email play a fundamental role in the day-to-day running of Hillarys Blinds. Phil Squire, Senior System Administrator, Senior System Administrator, Hillarys Blinds, explains: “Approximately 800 part-time sales advisors currently use Windows-enabled, mobile point-of-sales terminals which allow them to process an order in the customer’s home via a 3G network. These devices, send the transaction in real time via an internet connection to our order processing team at our head office. Without these mobile terminals, an order could take up to three days to process, so it’s absolutely vital that these devices are secure and remain online at all times."
